During the final battle with Glory that lead to the Buffster's death, the inherently vicious Spike kept his word to protect Dawn. Don't expect Spike to take on all of the values of the Scooby Gang, but expect his love for the fallen Slayer to drive his bloodlust in a more acceptable direction.
James Marsters, who first guest starred on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as the goth-decked vampire Spike, joined the cast as a series regular for the show's fourth season. Born in the remote northern logging town of Greenville, Calif., and raised in Modesto, Calif., Marsters made his stage debut as Eyeore in a fourth grade production of "Winnie the Pooh" and went on to study acting at Julliard. He began his professional career in the theater, performing in stage productions including "The Tempest" and "Red Noses" at Chicago's Goodman Theater. In 2000, Marsters revisited the stage with a starring role in an original play titled "The Why," produced by Noah Wyle.
Marsters made his on-screen debut guest starring as an ill-at-ease priest on the television series "Northern Exposure," a success that inspired him to move from his home in the Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles. Within months of relocating he was sinking his proverbial teeth into the role of Spike in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He also appeared in the feature film "House on Haunted Hill," a psychological thriller co-starring Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs and Lisa Loeb. When he's not working, Marsters enjoys playing the guitar, watching football and spending time with friends at the beach. He currently lives in Los Angeles. Currently Spike has joined the cast of Angel. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was laid to rest on May of 2003. Spike gave his life to save the Scoobies. Now he's been resurected on Angel, LA is crowded with two vampires who have souls.
